Addressing Discrimination and Violence against Women in Jordan

The project aimed to increase the capacity of lawyers through trainings to enable them to better protect women from all forms of discrimination at the social and legal levels and to enhance the capacities of governmental and non-governmental institutions to protect women’s rights- and in particular women victims of violence and discrimination - and to improve their access to justice and to provide them as well with legal aid. It also aimed to build the capacity of various parties active in the field of legal protection of women - especially lawyers - on the use of the protection of victims of domestic violence law and international human rights conventions before competent national courts in addition to examining and proposing legal amendments or laws pertaining to protection of women. The project was funded by the European Union and Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation in Sweden.
