Towards amending national legislations to explicitly provide for compensation of victims of grave violations of human rights

The project aims to eliminate the use of torture and ill-treatment by preventing the occurrence of such malpractices and to ensure that such acts are criminalized, investigated, prosecuted, penalized and are dealt with in accordance with Jordan's international obligations. It also seeks to establish and strengthen cooperation between government agencies and civil society organizations with a view to abolishing torture and strengthening relevant national legislation in Jordan so as to ensure effective prevention of torture, prosecution of its perpetrators and treatment of its victims. The project is implemented in partnership with the National Center for Human Rights, the Ministry of Justice and DIGNITY - Danish Institute against Torture, and funded by the Danish Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP).
